HEALDSBURG, Calif. (Nov. 1, 2007) -- A new Web site, GenerousPour.com, is making it easy for consumers to give back this holiday season in two ways: by helping holiday hosts turn their celebratory parties into charitable gatherings with expert advice from celebrity chefs and by offering a free exclusive music download from Grammy-nominated recording artist Corinne Bailey Rae -- both of which will benefit Share Our Strength®, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty in the U.S.
Running now through December 31, GenerousPour.com is the creation of Share Our Strength and Clos du Bois®, one of the nation's leading fine wine companies. The site was built as a way to inspire consumers to make their Thanksgiving family gathering, the holiday office party or their New Year's Eve soirée do double duty by giving a "generous pour" of holiday cheer to the less fortunate.
How to Help End Hunger
Turning a party into a generous gathering is easy. The site arms holiday hosts with downloadable print or email invitations, menu templates and recipe cards, music playlists, tips for entertaining, and Share our Strength donation cards, which can be printed out and mailed in with personal checks collected from the party. Hosts can also have their personal computers on hand to encourage their guests to make immediate donations at www.strength.org/generouspour using their credit cards.
To provide entertaining tips and festive recipes, like Hot Italian Sausage Stuffing and Stone Crab Cobbler with Coconut Milk, GenerousPour.com enlisted the help of six of America's premiere chefs:
- Govind Armstrong is executive chef and partner of Table 8 in L.A. and Miami and author of the new cookbook Small Bites, Big Nights. He has served as a guest chef on the luxurious Queen Mary 2 cruise ship as well as Bravo's hit show "Top Chef."
- David Gilbert is former executive chef of Dallas’ famed LuQa and will soon be opening a new restaurant later this year. Gilbert has been at the helm of several four star restaurants, including The Ritz Carleton St. Thomas, and has catered the Golden Globe Awards two years in a row.
- Dewey LaSasso is executive chef and owner of Miami's North One 10 restaurant. He has served as Donatella Versace's personal chef and as executive chef of New York’s Hudson Hotel as well as Miami's Tuscan Steak and Foundlings Club, a private club where he attracted notice for his original cuisine "Florida Progressive."
- Tracy Miller is owner and executive chef of acclaimed LOCAL restaurant in Dallas. Traveling a more unorthodox road to success, Miller taught herself with chef-driven cookbooks and cooking magazines to develop her style. She managed 1717 Restaurant under Chef Kent Rathbun and ran her own catering company.
- Martial Noguier is executive chef of one sixtyblue in Chicago. Born in Paris and educated at France’s culinary academy Jean Ferrandi, Noguier has worked with Alain Ducasse at Louis XVI in Monaco and worked in the kitchen at the famed Citronelle in Santa Barbara.
- Allen Susser is creator of Chef Allen's in Miami. His cross-cultural tropical cuisine has been hailed by The New York Times, Time Magazine, Bon Appetite, and Wine Spectator. He serves as an advisory member of the James Beard Foundation and has been a tireless advocate for Share Our Strength for nearly two decades.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Clos du Bois on this interactive, holiday website,” said Debbie Shore, Co-founder of Share Our Strength. “For more than 20 years, Share Our Strength has received invaluable support from the culinary industry. The dedication of Clos du Bois to Share Our Strength demonstrates the creativity and innovation our culinary partners are doing to support our efforts in ending hunger in America.”
A Hit R&B Artist Serves a Greater Cause
Giving back is still easy for those who don't have time to plan a holiday party. Grammy-nominated recording artist Corinne Bailey Rae is providing an exclusive remix of her hit song, "Like A Star," the perfect start to the creation of a cocktail hour play list. Consumers can download the song for free, and Clos du Bois will donate $1 to Share our Strength for every download.
“Clos du Bois wines have long been a part of holiday traditions for many families,” said Erik Olsen, winemaker for Clos du Bois. “This holiday season we are asking consumers to take five to fight hunger: If you have five minutes, download the song. If you have five hours, host a Generous Pour party. And if you have five days, spread the word by getting your friends to host their own generous gatherings.” Take your five by visiting www.generouspour.com.
